Insect meal as an alternative to fishmeal in pig feed

In our new publication, we show that the black soldier fly larval meal (BSFLM) is a suitable alternative to fishmeal (FM) in feed of finishing pigs, and uniquely combines growth performance, carcass traits and nutritional quality of pigs fed BSFLM-based feeds. Our results, do not only provide important information for novel insect-based feeds for pig production industries but also provide information on meat nutritional quality for human consumption.
